Printing VF Cantonese HKEdB from MS Word on Windows

Printing VF Cantonese HKEdB font from MS Word on Windows ends up with missing Jyut Ping and sometimes even 亂碼.

The issue does not replicate itself when using other VF Cantonese fonts.

Sample document:

Output:

Hi @miymsnr — Microsoft systems are very much dependent on operating system version, and application version. This definitely looks like a bug on their end, but also unlike a bug that they will address.

Some things you can try, as workarounds:

  1. using Print to PDF instead of export, and vice versa. For some unknown reasons, these two are unrelated systems and what works on one may not work on the other.
  2. If color is not critical to how the output is used, try uninstalling the color font, and installing instead the monochrome. Microsoft and Adobe struggles with implementing the OpenType-SVG specifications.
  3. Push comes to shove, email me (or someone with Mac/Word) the .doc. The same file will just print right.

The monochrome font did the trick.
Thank you.
